WISDOM
“I will worship the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.” Psalm 111:1
There is a point where Worship is not a time slot on a church bulletin, but a conscious personal decision. Not a convenience or portion of adoration in order to stay in good graces with the Almighty, but rather a complete surrender of self, the whole heart with nothing held back. Real biblical Worship is not always private but public. That is an embarrassment to the flesh which is a marker of true Worship. It is in front of people and in cooperation with other people who will Worship the LORD God Jehovah. Dr Sammy Allen said many times, “If you have never been accused of taking [worship] too far, I doubt you have ever truly worshipped.” This Psalm is written, an alliterated vocal praise. Worship is not silent or inward. True biblical worship is visible and vocal. Worship is not for others but unto the LORD. Will We Worship?
WISDOM
“When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before thee: And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite. Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.”
1 Timothy 2:16 tells us that the seedbed of all sin springs forth from three heirloom seeds: the Lust of the Flesh, The Lust of the Eyes, and the Pride of Life. The Enemy and his employees know this and use it skillfully to ensnare their victims. The picture Wisdom paints in this chapter is that of a meal that is offered. Something that feeds a hunger. Caution is the watchword. Consider, Wisdom says, what a person of influence or some sort of importance offers. If we have a certain hunger, a desire, a Lust, that gnaws at us that is presented on a plate before us, STOP! Before a bite is taken, take stock of the hungers we know get us into a pickle over and over. The hunger may be fed but it will not take long for the stomach to turn sour and regret to seize us. Wisdom says be aware of our company, and our vulnerability. Wise or Foolish?
