10 Years

One of the old war horses, a term of respect, once told me in great wisdom, “Figure out what type of preacher you are going to be and get to it as soon as possible.“ he further explained as he prepared to hit his second shot on the back nine of the Diamond Hill golf course, was I to be a pastor, a second man, a missionary, or an evangelist. Ray Hancock gave the right wisdom at the right time. It would still be four years until I knew for sure, but his directive is what I investigated every day all day until I knew for sure. I finally knew for sure on a Sunday in March 2016. It would be another three years until that precise directive became a practical reality.

I remember the morning that I announced that calling at Wahoo Baptist Church. At the end of the service I testified to our congregation that God was directing me to be an itinerant evangelist preacher. One of the ways that I knew for sure was that the Lord had been working that same direction in Angels heart. One thing I learned is that not everybody’s journey to their respective assignment is going to be exactly the same. I did not have instruction to sell everything and move my family into a camper with no preaching appointments on the books. My journey would be a process. He still had work to do on me and in me.

It has been 10 years now. A little over six years ago I walked away from a really good job with a really great company with really good benefits and entrusted my entire occupational income to the Almighty. With all due respect to past men, the Lord has been the best boss I’ve ever had.

Ten is a Bible number of testimony. As I travel down I 75 toward another heaven provided Appointment, I testify to you that no matter the road along this journey, there is nothing better than being obedient and submissive to the perfect wheel of God. Sadly, I have not always seen it or submitted to it, but His grace and mercy have kept me in it.

Whatever years remain, I plan to fan the flame and run through the tape at the end of my race. Won’t you do the same?

March 2026

The Lord has brought us through some of the coldest winter weather in recent memory across the country. The snow and ice caused a few churches on our schedule to cancel services and meetings but the Lord has provided our needs. We thank the Lord that He has provided safety and support through the month of February. Through the many miles the Lord has given us the opportunity to preach and sing for some tremendous churches and treasured pastors. Thank you to pastors Roberson, Brinkley, Dowler, and Hobbs for entrusting us to minister in their pulpits. Praise the Lord for the souls we have seen saved and the transforming power of the Spirit of God through the preached Word of God.

We have some objects of prayer that we would appreciate your agreement upon. Please help us pray for my dad, Lloyd Borden who has a heart cath on the 19th. Pray for Abby and Asher upon their engagement and impending wedding ceremony on June 27th. Pray for my mother, Debra as she is dealing with dizziness due to Menier’s disease.

Worship & Wisdom 3/1/2026

I hope if you have read any of the Worship & Wisdom posts that you see the pattern of days of the month with chapters in Psalms & Proverbs; 5 Psalms per day and 1 Proverb matching the calendar month days. I encourage you to take up this daily routine to increase both Wisdom & Worship.

WORSHIP

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” Psalm 1:1-2

Begin at the beginning, ‘Blessed.’ The Lord begins the songbook of Israel with a key word, BLESSED! What a reason to Worship! I am and you are Blessed! Why? Verse 2 dictates the desire of the Blessed; the Word of God. It seems if we analyze these two verses we see that one thing will keep a person from another thing. Dwelling of the Word of God seems to be mutually exclusive to associating with and becoming ungodly, a sinful, and scornful. Delight in the Word! Meditate upon it day and night! That is the safeguard of the Blessed. Worship the LORD for His Word!

WISDOM

“…To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity…” Proverbs 1:1-4

These 4 verses, given in part in the introduction, introduce the writings of Wisdom in the Old Testament. The framework of instruction is given unto a specific result; wisdom, justice, judgment, equity, subtilty[fineness], knowledge and discretion. Voices from names like Webster, Carnegie, Maxwell, Covey, Andrews, Ramsey, Robbins, and a multitude of podcasters of today have all put pen to paper and derived some sort of formula utilizing the Wisdom given in Proverbs. Re-wrapped and stylized versions are packaged to draw in a demographic who puts e-books and hardback copies in their cart and wait for amazon to deliver the words that will turn their life around. Tell you what. Skip the Wisdom middle-men and go right to their source; the Wisdom of Proverbs. Wise or Foolish?
