Psalm 119:164 “Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgements.’ KJV
Let’s say the average person gets 8 hours of sleep and 16 hours awake in a 24 hour day. If we do the math on 7 times within 16 hours we will have a point every 2 hours and 20 minutes to praise the Lord like the psalmist. Not for blessings, not for health, not for nationality, not for family, not for benefits, not for getting what we want, BUT for the Lords righteous judgements. His perfect Word, its instruction, correction, promises, commands, laws, rebukes, revelations, stories, history, Holy Spirit instructed, God breathed Words, the written tangible book that is the alliteration of the living Christ. He just thanked God for His Word 7 times a day. Every 2+- hours he stopped and said, ‘Thank you, Lord for the Bible, your word to me, for me, and in me.’
Let’s try that. Let’s put that smart phone to good use and set an alarm for every 2 hours 20+- past when you wake up and just voice a simple single sentence of praise to the Lord for the Bible, the Word of God. Don’t even have to stop what you are doing. How long will it take until it becomes a daily routine? If the next verse is any indication, I believe we can expect to receive some things that we really need in these days. Care to join me?
Hello my brother: Last week I read your email and accepted your challenge. On Monday morning, I entered an alarm in my smartphone for 8:30 AM. The only thing that comes up is “Psalm 119:164″. When it rings, I snooze it for one hour, step away from my desk or whatever I’m doing, and begin to praise God for His Word. It usually lasts less than a minute, but I am so amazed at what the Holy Spirit of God teaches me about the Word of God, in that minute. I say things in that prayer that I can’t believe I actually thought of. Wonderful things about the Word of God and it’s power, sufficiency and provision. I can tell, it is already changing me and I already love His Word more than I did before.
Thank you so much for the challenge. Les Allison McLeansville, NC
